The 5D IV photos do seem to come out well, judging by what's been posted here. I know people say.. it's the photographer, not the camera, but from my own experience, it's a combination. As Tom mentioned, the files from the 1D IV are nice. I think its strengths have made me a better photographer. I only use the 10 fps when I shooting birds in flight. It does come in handy there.

I say this a lot, probably because I'm a color blind man. The 1D IV gets the colors right. Other people can play around with color adjustments. I make horrible mistakes when I try that unsupervised. I was post processing a kitchen for my wife a few years ago and when she looked at my final take, she cringed and said: do you know you made all the recessed lights red? I had no idea. Anyway, the 1D IV files catch what I saw at the time I took the photograph. That ends up being huge for me. As long as I do my part, the camera performs flawlessly. It's not an indoor camera, at least, not for me. But most of what I do is outdoors and it really shines there.

I'll bet the 5D IV is similar in that regard, with more flexibility indoors. I might end up with one some day. I'd rather had a 1D X2, but that isn't likely at the moment. ;)

My affliction is blues, greens and grays. Can't tell the difference. I calibrated my monitors in hopes of them catching what I cannot see. So far either it works, or people are just too kind to say differently.

I can't distinguish between light shades of blue, purple, pink and gray... some dark shades as well. Then it's the same with brown, tan and green. You can "see" the problem.

As long as I leave the colors alone and the camera records what I'm seeing, I'm good. I can play around with contrasts, structure, exposure, etc. to get the photos to pop.

I too love the true color representation on the MK IV. Going to go hunting fall colors in the Sierra this weekend.

Just bought a used 1D4. Been shooting with it for the last week of so, but here are the first few pics from it, the customary duck shots :-)

hi gang ,been quiet for a couple of weeks due to man flu ,managed a couple of short trips out in that time ,think I'm on the tail end of it now hopefully .

joining in the conversations from previous posts I had the 80D for a year super little camera and quiet good on high i.s.o to in my books a better camera allrounder than the 7d2 which my son had and I also used ,but after a year with it a friend pointed out that my older shots from the 1D3 were better ,I checked and he was right ,sometimes we get carried away with all the hype of new sensors etc . I bought another 1d3 then earlier year after a windfall via pixys.com for photo theft I upgraded to my mk4 I love it apart from the screen ,I look at friends pics on the back of there latest all singing canons and nikons and they look far better than mine till I process my shots and compare them to theres and its a no brainer the 1dmkiv rools o.k .

recently had to upgrade my i.mac to due to the old one dying .my new 27" Mac with SSD drive and enhanced processors and graphics card leave me stunned a 400 shot upload to Lightroom in full raw takes literally a few minutes ,and p/p is instant .I now have the perfect combo .

anyway a couple of recent shots

I haven't used an 80D yet but I used a 70D for a while and a 7D2 for longer. I have to say, I can't be happier with my 1D IV experiences. I love the way the photos come out. Even more important to me is: I know if I do my job, the camera will reliably do its. I don't have to worry or fret when I'm out shooting that I'll get home and half of my photographs will be soft or out of focus. Photography is therapy for me and when I was fretting all the time (with good reason), it took the joy out of things.

The 1D IV brought back the fun.
