Are you in manual mode? Does it do the same in Aperture or Tv mode? How about the green box or Program modes?

You got that right...it's the shutter. Got the Err 30 now - when the speed is over 1/1000s. So..gotta order new one from Chine and hope I will be able to replace - the official service here in Czech informed me that they don't have the parts and don't do it anymore either. Weeell..it was great few years with a great camera. Hope it will be few more :)

Sorry to hear that. I was hoping it was just a setting somewhere or something simple. Good luck with it and keep us posted.

Yeah, me too. Do you know the shutter count? Curious...

It may be cheaper to buy a used 1D4. I've seen them for $500. I've seen folks sell broken 1D4 for parts to salvage something.

I have used some of the newer 1series cameras and don't feel that they give me anything that the Mk IV doesn't. I'll keep using these until they break. When they have to be replaced, I'll look for a nice used 1DX mk II or III probably.

I agree the 1D4 is still a great camera. I sold my 1D3, 7D2 and 5D3 in November, but kept the 1D4. I just can't let it go yet. Folks have moved on to the newer stuff and that's where all the activity is. The same will happen to them when they get old. Just how it is. Just keep posting and that may help to revive the thread. I'm sure there are others who still use this camera body like us.

I didn't mean to imply anything negative, I'm keeping mine as a backup to the DX3, which is more capable. However, to my eyes, the IQ is very similar and unless I look at the EXIF, I doubt I could tell which camera took the picture.

I've had this body for over 10 years now and it is unlikely I will ever sell. It is really hard to find something today that lasts so long and can still hold its own with the best.

I guess I'm not much for selling. I still have my 1D mkIII, and two 1DmkIIs!

Still have mine. I bought it new when the 1Dx was released. I love the 1.3x crop sensor. I've contemplated selling it but I just can't. It's mint/like new with a low shot-count. I've since bought and sold the 1dx the 1dx ii and currently have the 1dx iii.

this is primarily a gear forum so its to be expected that the newest toys get the most posts. nothing wrong
with my mk4 either, or the mk3 and 6d i have.
