This is the 1D mkIV thread, not the 1DX mkII thread!

Did not know it was released in 2009. :-)

Anyone upgrading their 2009 1D Mark IV for a 2021 R3?

Geez, Paolo, you asked the same question “Did you upgrade to RX? in just about every camera thread, even in the 10D thread. Why?

Why discriminate against 10D owners?

Gotta agree, that string of posts was pretty weird. I'd be interested in the story.

I want to know the perspective of each photographer that owned/used said product if they see a compelling reason to buy into the mirror equivalent or near equivalent.

  • xxD body owners: I want to know if you're getting the R10
  • 7D Mark x owners: I want to know if you're getting the R7
  • 5D Mark x owners: I want to know if you're getting the R5
  • 1D Mark x owners: I want to know if you're getting the R3

No judgement just want to see what people think.

My follow up question is. Why are you bothered by my asking questions to people who only browse those threads? Not everyone look into all threads.

I'd never bother looking at non-L lens or or body threads for which I never owned.

I'll answer your follow up question. I follow a lot of threads related to equipment I am interested in or curious about. As a result you have posted your ridiculous question in every camera thread I follow. You must have a pretty pathetic life if the high point of your day is spamming the POTN forums.

Yeah, but why do you want to know?

Why do you want to know?

Because it makes no sense.

I could understand if you shoot with a 7DII to ask 7DII owners if they upgraded to the R7 and what their experience is, how the cameras compare.
I could understand if you shoot with a 1DIV or 1DX(II/III) to ask owners of those cameras if they upgraded from those cameras to a R3 and what their experience is, how the cameras compare.

But you asked in every canon EOS camera thread, all versions of every line: 10/20/30/40/50/60/80/90D, 5D/II/III/IV, 5DS/R, 1DIV/1DX/II/III.

It’s just weird.

You also started a whole battery of threads in the lens sample section. Yet, I don’t think you own any of them. I know from the past that you like to start gear threads, but this too seems rather excessive.

I’m puzzled.

Levina, be thankful people still visit POTN in this age when

  • Facebook absorbed the users of online forums and Yahoo Groups
  • iPhone & Android destroyed Canon's business model
  • Users die from old age or illnesses
  • Users move onto other interests

As such I need to cast a wider net to get more photog replies.

I have/had 80% of those bodies at present/past.

I did not ask on the 6D, xxxD or xxxxD body threads as I never owned or used them.

I invite you to check my account for image samples from my EF L lens collection. I am exploring if I should start my RF L lens collection. Hence the questions.

Like should I supplement my

with

As RF lenses typically better perform with RF bodies I need to ask EF body owners how they like the R3, R5, R7 & R10 relative to the bodies I've owned previously & until now.

I skipped the R5C, R6, Ra, R, RP & RIP because I have no interest in them.

My posts are not meant to ruffle feathers but to get answers to my questions.

This makes sense, Paolo. Thanks.

It was just that you hadn’t really been active on POTN and suddenly you post an avalanche of posts, all asking the same question in the different gear threads. So you know, I wondered if your account was hacked. :p

I hope you get your answers.

Hacked? I've been using the internet since I entered high school. :-D

Typically when someone gets hacked they start sending you links to compromise your browser to phish out your financial data and not ask about obscure questions like

  • xxD body owners: I want to know if you're getting the R10
  • 7D Mark x owners: I want to know if you're getting the R7
  • 5D Mark x owners: I want to know if you're getting the R5
  • 1D Mark x owners: I want to know if you're getting the R3

Fellas, be nice to people. It helps with making friends and keeping members stay. ;-)a

I have about 2-3 dozen photo forums on bookmark and what I've noticed in the past 52 weeks is
  • 20% of them have suddenly shut down and the remnants of the members retreated to Facebook to ask "what happened?"
  • 20% have barely enough people there
  • 20% are somewhat unfriendly
  • 20%
  • 20%

As to my participation for the past 7 years has to do with a change of interest?

A few years ago I conducted an online poll on the age of the forum members of these 2-3 photo forums.

What I discovered is that they're all older than millennial like myself. And they're not being replaced by people like myself as quickly as they leave voluntarily or involuntarily.

If people are hostile to members like myself who signed up more than a dozen years ago. What more newbies with a mirrorless system?

Just something to think about. ;-)a

I don’t think I was hostile. Just puzzled, so I asked a question which you didn’t answer but dodged which added to the mystery. ;-)a

But I remember you well, Paolo. And the beautiful birds from the Philippines that you used to post. And most always with a description of the bird, which I loved reading.

POTN is withering away. It’s sad, but nothing lasts forever, least of all on the internet.

My neighborhood camera club started in-person meetings again. I may drop by tonight or something.
