QUOTED IMAGE

Jay,
For me ... this is magic. it is simple yet invites the viewer to different aspects or areas of the image.
Also invokes an interaction with the viewer .... like sitting in the aircraft right behind, rolling down the taxi-way to the hammerhead.

Just picked up a 1D Mark IV used this morning. Quite impressive.
Now if I can just find one of those pesky F-14's, A-10's or a P-51 to fly by 50' off the deck, I can get some nice pictures like FlyingPhotog. JK, absolutely incredible images BTW. Nothing like a fighter aircraft flying up close.

^^took some high ISO shots today just to see what it could do. Good pics straight from the camera and only will get better in PP.
Have my daughters soccer game tomorrow. Will give it a test there.
Thanks for a very smooth transaction.

How is the 1D Mk IV at LOW ISOs?

Everyone keeps talking about High ISO this, and High ISO that etc, but I've spent most of my photographic life shooting and loving slide films such as Kodachrome 25, Kodachrome 64, and especially Velvia 50, and Provia 100.

I really don't care all that much about high end ISOs, so I'm just wondering how the 1D Mk IV handles the lower end ISOs, and does it produce eye popping, jaw dropping, super clean, brilliant color, practically noise free images that you could enlarge to extreme sizes if you wanted? Or at least look like they came out of a national magazine if kept to 8.5" x 11" size approx. (Sharpness, saturation, colorwise, noise free etc.)

Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever! ;)

Here is one in beautiful golden late afternoon sun. I like it. ISO 100, 35L

You bring up an excellent point.
I would have assumed that Canon would not sacrifice it's low ISO performance for high ISO capability without advertising it. Especially when many of the technical gains in camera performance revolve around better high ISO performance. That seems to be the case with the 1D X, it's expected high IsO performance is listed as one of the major features.
That being said, I agree, most of my photography does not take place at those extreme ISO settings. It is a nice option to have though.

check out ni$mo350's post - https://photography-on-the.net …=13380825&postcount=10174

it performs spectacularly at favorable ISOs.

You could get richer, and even more saturated colors than Velvia 50 by going into the settings and tweeking your settings. Of course, you can always shoot in Faithful or Neutral with the express purpose of building the color in your digital darkroom. There's not much you can do about the dynamic range, though...film will always be film and digital ... well, i suspect it wont be long before it reaches film dynamic range (w/o tweaking).

Of course, as a whitelensesrule person, i suspect you already know that the lens's influence upon the sensor is just as important to the detail in the final print size as the camera.

my short answer, YES, you just have to know how to create it given the ability of the tool :)

Thanks everyone for all your wonderful replies!

Stunning image, Carol.

Thanks for the link, Mike...great images by Chris!

Oh I realize that it takes a combination of things to produce the final image, I just want to make sure the camera would hold up it's end of the deal.
