Just got a Canon PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II (yay) and right away went to a camera shop to get some good paper. I came back with the Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl paper.

I am wondering what you guys prefer for paper. I print mostly landscapes with about 60% in color and the remaining in B&W.

What paper have you found to be the best?

Holy crap, my 9500 mk II will be here wednesday and I ordered a ton of smooth pearl myself! I have been using smooth pearl with my canon iP4600 and it is awesome. Period. I have read that the smooth pearl works great with dye and pigment based inks so we are in like flynn.

I have a Canon i9900, and if it has any bearing on your choice, I think Ilford Gallerie Classic Pearl is the best I have used.

Maxdave how does the Classic Pearl differ from the Smooth Pearl? Have you used both?

Cicopo has already provided a link which answers your question.

Ilford Gold Fibre Silk gives wonderful color and B&W on the 9500. This is my choice for fine art prints.

Red River has nice papers too. You can order a sample pack of their pigment paper to try.

Classic is for dye based inks - you cannot use pigment ink with classic papers.

Smooth papers suit the pigment inks better.

My understanding is that Classic is for dye based inks only, while Smooth may be used for both ....

My i9900 uses dye based inks, I'm not sure about your printer.

I've found Canoga Camera (external link) to have the best prices on ink and competitive if not best in paper as well.

Thanks for the links guys. I keep forgetting that the 9500 is dye based and not pigment.

anybody use inkpress paper? I can get some good prices on them and they offer ICC profiles. I was looking at the "Luster" specifically. For glossy, I just like Canon's Glossy Plus.

No, the 9500 is pigment and the 9000 is dye. BTW, I just recieved my 9500 mk II and am setting it up.
