Well I picked up a 55-250mm the other day from a local camera shop and here are some of my first pictures taken with it. All taken at 250mm and all taken right off the camera.
Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

The 55-250 is a fantastic lens. If you stay below 200mm and stop it a little bit you get consistently sharp results, but even at 250 it does a very nice job!
Congrats!

Looks like a great lens when one doesn't want to lug a 2.8 around

Thanks guys, the airplane one I was unhappy with but what can you expect when you are driving. The IS is a nice feature.

Hey Diego, you can make the airplane more contrasty and will look even better!

I will try that. I am currently using the lightroom beta 3 just becuase its free. I also have adobe cs3 suit but I still need to learn how to use all the basic features.

If you have 55-250, don't use an L series after that like 70-200 , or you'll gonna sell the 55-250 right away

Diego, the pic looks sharper. This is not the section to critique pics but my suggestion would be to crop a lot behind the airplane and lighten up the shadows (thetrees are loosing a lot of detail). Anyway, your point is completely valid; the 55-250 is a very nice lens.
Guntur, I don't want to start a controversy right now but Diego would benefit a lot more from practicing and shooting rather than from an L lens. While I agree all canon 70-200 are fantastic lenses I don't think it is the best lens for a newbie.
