I'm just wondering if there is a size maximum that is compatible with the 5d classic, or what speed will suffice. if anyone could suggest the best card for the 5d that isn't like $150 bucks, that would be awesome.
thanks.

I'd get more cheaper cards then blowing excessively on one card. There's no need for "ultra" anything. http://bubble-trees.com/

Yes, it's only 3FPS, and yes the buffer is 17 images (RAW), but once you fill those up, it's a pain waiting for slower CF cards to have the data written onto them. I haven't pushed the buffer on my 5D yet, but I certainly noticed slower cards on the 40D. The buffer would fill after like 10 frames, and then I was getting something like 1 frame per second. My SanDisk Extreme III (4gb) seemed to make a noticable difference over cheaper cards. Jason Hamilton - flickr
