Hey sports shooters, I am open to suggestions. I am supposed to shoot a basketball game tomorrow night (Tuesday) but I am not sure if I will be able to set up my strobes or not. Without the strobes, I am out of luck as far as posting on MaxPreps. Take a look at this series of pics and let me know what you think.

Note: The images in the link below are not mine, just some I found while searching for the arena (Delmar field House, Houston, Tx).

I don't see any hand rails. That's just crazy. And I don't see any 110v receptacles.

I may either just pass on it or drive over in the morning and take a first hand look. It's about 20 miles one way.

The phone apparently has been disconnected that was listed on the website.

Bring plenty of heavy duty extension cords, a lot of gaffer tape.

Looks like can place both strobes in each corner and focus shooting on one side. But I agree, get there early, if possible. Hate to see you drive 20 miles and the place be locked up.

If you look in picture #100, just next to the guy on the right, it looks like there is an outlet on the wall. They had to have power for the microphone at the podium I would think.

That looks like a tough one. I could not get a good sense of where they were in the photo that showed the hot light behind the subject for the video but am pretty sure that was not a battery powered light so there must be power around the parameter of the floor.

It looks like you could bounce pretty easily in there if you can find the power for the strobes but who knows what you will find.

Good luck if you make the trip and sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thanks for the advice. I found a number to the field house but no one answers. I put in a call the the Houston ISD Athletic Asst Basketball AD but had to leave a message. I also sent him an email detailing my request.

Upon further searches, I found the basketball schedule for HISD. It appears there are three games there tonight. If I get the OK, I will shoot all three. If not, I'll try again another day.

Thanks again for your feedback.
Mike

I didn't make it. Never got in touch with the right person to request the pass. I now have the right contact person so maybe in a week or so I will try again.
