This lens has been blasted by some reviewers and seems not to be very popular here. However, Google came up with some more recent reviews that seem to reinstate its reputation......very confusing.
How about some sample images [good and/or bad] to get a reasonable indication as to the quality of this lens.

i'm not sure if it gets bad reviews here...i think it's just the fact that there were already so many good established UWA before this one was released...and it doesn't really offer anything more than the extra 2mm on the long end to get people to change from their lens to it

that should tell you something. that lens is at the bottom of every UWA comparison that i've seen.

Fwiw, I tired this lens in store and every copy I tried was noticeably softer than the competition.

I'm doing the same type of research - but there is very little information from people who used it first hand. Does anyone have any idea where I can get some picture samples?

I went to the store and tried one out. Bring your own CF card and you can review the images later.

I have one and I love it! It is a specialty lens that needs to be used carefully. It's not the fastest lens out there, but when used right it's a spectacular lens. My copy has never shown me anything but being a sharp, UWA lens.

Examples:

Is that enough Tamron wide angle maddness?
Color rendition is very nice and correct as well as it's contrast. Over all I am very happy with my Tamron 10-24 SP f3.5-4.5.
For more wide angle shots with this lens, please look at this flickr page.

I bought one and in comparison with the Sigma 10-20 F4, it did beat it on charts in D P Review. I love it, i have to say though that i didn't try the Sigma, but bought it purely for the extra .5 Aperture and the reason that any Tamron i've bought in the past has been excellent with the exception of their 70-300. I own the Tamron 55-200, which is pin sharp for a budget lens and also the 90mm Macro, which i love as well.

I'd say its a great lens for the price and i'd consider it money well spent.

I think it is a decent lens. It is also very new, while Sigma, Canon and TOkina have had successful models out. Everyone still dismisses the Tamron based on the old 11-18. It's got the widest zoom range, and a good speed compromise.

These shots prove to me that many reviewers jumped the gun about this lens. As I'd said earlier there are other reviewers that praise this lens and one even pointed out that Tamron only provided Nikon fit lenses for reviews and that with Canon's 1.6 crop sensor, the extreme boarders are actually 'cut out' which is beneficial to overall sharpness across the Canon frame. Flare is another aspect that is overlooked by those who denigrate this lens; from what I've been reading, it performs very well in this respect.
