Anybody else useing Google Voice?

I have decided to make my Google Voice my main business number. It sounds weird till you know what it can do for you. Yes voicemail is not a bit deal. But it is the call forwarding that you can do is what I love. And the ease of doing it.

When a call comes in, I can have it ring the office phone AND my cell phone at the same time. What ever one I pick up is the one the call goes to.

I can call forward on the fly. So if I am not going into the studio, I can have it ring me at home.

And when I call back from any phone, I can have the Google Voice number show in the Caller ID. So I can return a call from any phone and it appears as if I am in the office.

All done totally invisable to the customer.

And all for FREE!

If you have a jailbroke iPhone, or any of the Android phones you can make changes with a few clicks in the App.

but only available in the US.
and it seems like its "coming soon" and invitation only right now. dunno if it will stay as long as you will need it.
still sounds like a great free service!

I use it too. I give out my google voice number out to people I don't want to have my permanent cell phone number. Also, I love the voice>text transcription. I can instantly see what the call was about via text in situations where I can't make/take a call. Love it.

Maybe I am just being a weirdo, but doesn't this almost sound intrusive? There are a lot of features that seem a bit scary. Anyone thinking the same thing?

To have a free business line would be great though!

I'd like to know your train of thought here. I just can't really see how it could be intrusive. Which features in particular would you consider scary?

I like getting a recording of any voicemail sent to me as an email attachment. And the transcript of the voicemail is useful, but hardly accurate enough to rely on without also listening to the message.

I've used it for a while. It's very handy as it rings my home and cell numbers which helps me conserve cell minutes when I'm just sitting around the house. Plus the voice mail transcriptions are pretty slick when you're in meetings & can't break away to listen to your voice mail

It only as intrusive as you want it to be as you can pretty much controol every aspect of it. Including turning it off so it only goes to voicemail.

I've been using it since before Google bought it, when it was called Grand Central. It's great.

Especially if you move to new areas, you can setup a "local" number that forwards to your cell phone number from somewhere else.

Love the call blocking and other features. I can't imagine living without it now.

I signed up just after the purchase. They said invites would not be going out for a while, but signed up any way and 4 days later I got the invite. Did nothing with it for a while, then all of a sudden it is all I use.

Like I said I am probably being ridiculous, but the thought that it will purposely record conversations and such, just seems a bit scary, who has access to these conversations? Are these recordings hackable? Could this lead to identity theft situations if you are sharing personal information in these conversations.

I know some would say I am being paranoid but I just thought it was worth thinking about. I really don't know????

I'm using it as well. I love having two phone numbers on one phone, wish more people would get dual sim card phones. but it's free so I can't complain.

I love my Google Voice number - I have it ring my home line and my cell. The number is slightly customized too (ends in RT2) so it's easier to remember
