Xsi with Sigma 30mm 1.4 (Looks like this lens has a 50/50 keepers rate :-( )

ISO 800 - Background is a reflection of Plasma TV on the table.... :-) A bit of cropping done on all pictures.

Definately wide open the lens is soft in the center. At F2.0 you are getting closer to the sweet spot on that lens. I think F2.8 might produce some crisper photos. Also, most of your pics are centered and look static.

Working with a narrow depth of field is always fun and when you first get a fast prime it's tempting to do everything like this. Just try and open it up a little, maybe place the car in a little scene... something to add another depth to these shots.

It was fun working with this kind of lens, but sometimes it`s frustrating. I`ll try f2.8 and see how this works. The lens is weird bec. if I shot @f1.4 on a person`s face, it tends to focus sharp, but tiny subject like this comes out softer.

I like the idea of the plasma TV as a light source! If that was your original idea, than congratulations. If you saw it somewhere else, thanks for pointing it out to me!.

I think that in all shots the car as main center of attention should be over all sharp - unless you get really close up to accentuate a detail. I like #1 best as it is - apart from the flashed one - sharpest in the series and the background lighting is very attractive.

BTW a keeper rate of 50-50 and you are sad...? I have a keeper rate of less than 1 in 10...and that is on my good days :)

Thanks. I did a shot of an airplane as my first post here last year. That was the time I first got my DLSR. It was a trial shot , with lots of things to learn.

Technically, it wasn`t a great shot... but I like my original concept. The car with tv reflection was derived from this original shot I made long time ago...

Here it is using a kit lens:
