I don't have a macro prime yet, so I will be using this on my Tamron 28-300. I don't know if I should spend the money for a teleconverter, or just get a set of extension tubes. I honestly don't know the difference between the two. any thoughts or suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance.

Kodak disposable, Ansco 35mm disk, Polaroid my parents gave me. That's about all I need really.

A TC magnifies the image received from the lens by the amount indicated (normally 1.4X or 2X) as I'm guessing the existing magnification from your lens is low probably around .1, this will not get you to macro magnifications.
Extension tubes are just hollow and work by allowing the existing lens to focus much closer. Wth the 28-300 on around 70mm you will get 1:1 magnification.
