I picked up a Cannon Rebel XS on boxing day .Today I recived a 55-250 auto focus IS .Any tips to get the most out of this set up would be great.I will use the camera to take mostly wild life and Retriever type picture's .Thank you in advance Lee

Sounds like a great beginner setup you have going there, just try to learn the relationship between aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Take a few test shots at different settings to see the difference, and try not to use any other mode besides Av (Aperture Value), Tv (Time Value), or Manual otherwise you'll be lugging around a huge point and shoot.

The "search" feature is your friend. Most of the questions you have are already posted and answered here from prior Newb's like myself. My advice to you is to read your manual, hang out on this forum, buy a "Canon Rebel for Dummies" book....or something like that, buy Understanding Exposure....and then read it more than once, and lastly get out there and shoot as much as you can.
