Howdy guys,

I've got an EOS 500D that I use primarily on a tripod for landscapes. I want to get a smaller, more inconspicuous camera that I can use for street photography instead of my iPhone.

I've come up with these basic requirements:

-Must create good quality photographs that when scaled down from native (Yet still bigger than HD) show virtually no blemishes or artifacts
-Must have a high enough pixel count to create large format prints (A3)
-Must have an optical viewfinder or a rangefinder
-SD/SDHC storage

Bonuses:

-RAW file capability
-Inbuilt black and white mode

So in absense of funds for my dream camera (Leica M9 , having used the M7 when I was younger!), I've been thinking of the Canon IXUS 100. I think it meets the first 4 requirements, but it doesn't meet the bonuses, although that doesn't matter so much.

Any opinions? :)

Ta muchly!

Ricoh GR III, Leica D-LUX 4(or the Panny one) if you want it in your pocket. If you're going to mostly shoot in good light, then take a look at the Sigma DP1 or DP2. Look at M4/3 bodies or a Canon G10/G11 if you don't mind carrying it around your neck or in a bag. Just get a viewfinder to put on the hot shoe.

These all have RAW and a wide angle except the DP1(which is usually preferred for street photography). Don't know about black and white, but don't see why you can't adjust that when you upload your photos.

The SD990 is small, has a good sized sensor 1/1.7" 14.7mp (same as G10), a optical finder, and with CHDK can shoot RAW (in .DNG format)
