Since the weather here has been terrible, I thought I would work on improving my PP technique.

I'm interested in C&C on this shot and especially any PP input.

Under these sonditions I'd be happy with especially at ISO 800. I'd get rid of the bird poop though.

Anything special done to this image post processing wise?

I'm not much of a PP'er so I can't help you much but I do like your pic! Good job.

Without seeing the original before you corrected it, it's hard to say what might need adjusting.
I agree though, the poop needs cloning out, that's about all I can see that is needed.
Maybe If you wanted to mess with it, you may decide to mask the eyes and bring out the reflections.
(I don't know what program you're using though)
The black over it's beak is solid black, you could mask that also and try and bring out the details in that area.
The diagonal orange twig that is on the far left hand side is kind'a not needed, so that could disappear.

It's really a nice shot as it is, but you asked. :)
(I haven't got one of those yet myself, I've only seen one in my area, and it was only here for a second)

Good shot, I'm envious!

Dave,

Well done on the titmouse, one of my favorite birds and tough to get on there jumpier than the chickadees half the time.

Sun should be headed your way i believe, on the PP its fun to play with and learn as you go, in my oppinion you have improved greatly since day one, and your having fun, thats the name of the game!!!

Thanks Duane. As far as anything special post processing wise... I did attempt to reduce BG noise by separating the bird from the BG. And I was much more generous on the amount of adjustments for contrast, hue and saturation than normal for me. I specifically selected this shot to practice PP on because it was at ISO 800 and captured under less than ideal conditions (which is about all we have lately). My logic was that shots captured under good field conditions (i.e. light, BG, exposure, etc) require very little PP while shots captured under poor conditions make the effects of PP much more noticeable and therefore easier for someone like me to see what works and what doesn't.

Long answer to a short question, huh? And yes, I agree the poop has got to go. I got so fixated on PP technicalities that I missed the obvious!!!

Thank you. I appreciate your comments on the color especially since this was captued under poor light.

Thanks Randy. I appreciate your comments and observations. I agree the black around the beak is... well, pretty black! I attempted some adjustments there, but they were beyond my capabilities at this time. Oh well. I did learn something and it was fun.
