These Gum Trees shed their bark in the Summer, and I do like the resulting colour of the trunk.

Beautiful.
For those unfamiliar with our gums, some shed bark and emerge like a cicada all shiny and clean,but often with beautiful colourations,striation​s etc.
Lovely photo.

This is the base of a swamp box, Lophostemon grandiflorus. It should by now be well and truly inundated with water as we are now past the middle of our wet season. But the tree is still a long way from the edge of the swamp. Unfortunately for us (and them), this year north Queensland has sucked away all our rain.
