Did it work?

Ho-hum snapshot of my puppy and dog wrestling:

Tight crop and heavy PP (lomo 2) to add drama and turn the pup into a vicious killer:

He almost looks like a lion in the second one. Nice PP btw.

I like both shots but in the second one the PP is a little bit over the top for my liking. Too much detail is lost and the close up adds enough drama by itself.

In the first one a crop to get rid of the empty space to the right would add. I love that paw on the back and that detail is lost because of the distraction to the right.

Thanks guys. I did the PP over the top on purpose, I wasn't trying to improve the original, I was trying to change it.

I actually like it enough that I'm thinking of making it poster size and hanging it in my media room.

I guess what CC I was looking for was on the crop composition. Did it create the menacing, claustrophobic feeling I was going for? Did the PP take it too far?

vidcannon's crop made it a better picture but retained that "playful" feeling, the arm on the back gives it away. It shows that it's not a fair fight, that the bigger dog is letting the lil guy have his way. Whereas my crop hides the fact that he's just a pup and the black dog looks to be in danger.

I like the paw on the back.lol.. You lost alot of details though in your contrasted version? You could go to a heavy tonal contrast and some dodging and get the similar feel without losing too much?

Just me:D
