Hi, have read many post here about this lens. I have also a non-IS with me. I am happy with it. But there is a question, some post say there are different version for this lens, some of them say there are MKI and MKII or even MKIII. I do not know my one is which version. My lens code is UH. Is there anyone can let me know what is that different and how to see the different?

Thanks!

Youming:)

I believe there were different non I.S. versions of the EF 400mm f2.8L lens...the original, the "II" version, and the I.S. version.

I only recall 2 versions of the EF 300mm f.2.8L lens, the non I.S. version, and the current I.S. version.

Of course I might be wrong.

There should be no need to look at teh date code because it will say "II" on the label. For example, if you look at the picture at the top of teh link below, you'll see that it has written near the red ring teh words "Canon Lens EF 200mm 1:2.8 L II"
http://www.the-digital-picture.com …L-II-USM-Lens-Review.aspx (external link)

Or the new 70-200 where it says "Canon Zoom Lens EF 70-200mm 1:2.8 L IS II"

Also, if you have any questions about what models have been made in the past, check the camera museum at http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/ (external link)

It does not list any mk II versions of the 300 2.8.
