Please note - the problem reported here has been resolved by Pantone to my satisfaction

I post this as a warning to any European who may be considering buying Pantone Huey, to encourage you to think again.

I have a Huey, with which I am pretty happy. So when I got a new monitor at Christmas time, I went to the Pantone web site to upgrade from the normal Pantone product to Pantone Huey Pro. This software update adds the ability to calibrate dual monitors, and the availablility of the upgrade helped me decide that it was the Huey I wanted to use for monitor calibration.

The upgrade is available to North American customers here (external link). But the equivalent UK page shows the upgrade as now being "unavailable". An email to customer support told me that the upgrade had been withdrawn from the European market.

Now every company has the right to do business as it wants, but I do not wish to do business with a company that treats its European customers as second-class compared to its North American ones.

I hope you will join me, and let Pantone know why.

regards,
/alan

Thanks, but that page lets you download the software. You need to buy a licence key to make it run. That licence can only be bought in the US/Canada.

Dunno if it's changed, but I upgraded my Huey to a Pro in the U.K. via the Pantone website, downloading the software and buying a licence.

There certainly used to be a link for non-U.S. customers.

Well that's a crock of SH!t!! Tell them to take a flying leap, and do your self a favor and pickup a Spyder 3. I picked up the studio version last year so I could make custom profile for both my monitors and printers, I know there is better printer profilers units out there but for the money the Spyder 3 Studio has been fantastic. Good luck on what ever you decide.;)

I am now pleased to correct this thread. A few days after being told that the upgrade was not available to European customers, I find that it has now been restored to the Pantone UK site :)

Thank you to Pantone for fixing this
