Long-tailed ducks ("old squaws")

This duck has moved to the top of my list of favorites. They are not easy to photograph, at least where I live (Washington state). Last weekend I found a flock of 26 but they were quite far out in the bay. They were flushed a few times when boats went by giving me a chance at some flight shots, all-be-it long distance. After waiting for hours one pair worked somewhat close to me. (All taken with the 40D and 800mm but still cropped pretty heavily)

Impressive inflight shots waving a 800mmm around

Wonderful shots of a wonderful duck (Glad to see you recognize the "old squaw" I will never get used to them being called long tailed ducks!! I hunted them years ago off the coast of Maine, and actually harvested one off of the Mississippi River in 1979. Hope to get to visit some areas to take pictures of them some day before too long.
