Leaves (nearing 10x?)

These photos are examples of the highest magnification and resolution I've been able to achieve with the backwards macro. I used a 70-200mm f/2.8L at 200mm and f/18, with a 35mm f/1.4L at f/13 held against the telephoto, backwards. I believe the magnification to be beyond 5x, and combined I have an aperture of f/31. To provide enough light to focus, I blast my subjects with several high powered flash lights. My proudest moment? These were shot hand-held.

Subject area shown is approx. 1/10th inch across, and filled most of my frame (its naturally circular due to stacking). Any idea what my magnification is? Shot with a 50D.

Also, I'm pretty sure I'm seeing the outlines of cells in G, which is a palm leaf. I counted about 75-100 cells across the widest part of the image, so 100 cells in 1/10th of an inch, or each cell is 1/1000th of an inch across? sound realistic or not?

Good shot esp given the circumstances. The magnification theoretically should be around 5.7:1 which would give a full frame width of about 4mm with your camaera.

Thanks! I agree, it's pretty nifty for just holding a lens against another lens.
