Second hand 5D in 2010?

I'm a happy 20D owner. Had it since new when it came out. I kind of a feel like I could use a second body and my local camera shop has second hand 5D's for about 1000e for sale.

I know the details of 5D. I'd absolutely love to have one now. But I'm well aware, that with putting 500e more I could get a brand spanking new 7D or a 50D with some extra gear.

What should I do? Please? Most of my lenses are EF, so even they would fit the 5D.

Tell me not to buy one, so my wife won't kill me...

Cheers,
Sterno

Oh, and if I get the 7D or 50D with the extra toys, she will kill me even more....

Don't buy one. Spend extra on a 5D MKII instead. ;)

The way I look at it there's not much to loose in trying a used 5d. Buy one, try it for a few months and if you don't like it you can sell it here for minimal or no loss.

Why? Used 5Ds are going at bargain prices at the moment. They're still fantastic cameras.

I was joking. I'd go for a 5D and keep the 20D as well. Another option is the 40D or 50D used. They are priced very well now thanks to the 7D.

I've been surprised by how cheap 5D's have become in the past year. IMO, it has never been such a great time to dabble in full-frame. Might grab myself another 5D in the coming months.. :)

I never anticipated going to FF either but now that that you can get a nice model for $1000 it's too difficult to resist.

I'd say go with the 5d unless you need a quick AF in which case get the 7d. The IQ on the 5d is impressive so much so that I can't resist. I had the 50d and it is an improvement over the 20d but the 5d is even more dramatic. Definitely get the 5d over the 50d.
