In a night shot I took, I noticed horizontal streaks in the background noise pattern (sky area). This was a handheld shot f5.6 1/15s with a 24-105 f/4L. Is this something that is related to the sensor property or firmware? Thanks for the inputs.

It looks like plain old high ISO sensor noise to me.

Actually many Canon cameras exhibit pattern noise. There is a thread here discussing fixed pattern noise. I'll see if I can find it. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
