Dear members,

I have just downloaded my images from the Dubai 24hr race this past weekend. Unfortunately, I appear to have an issue with my EOS 1D MkII N

I have posted a couple of images to show you what is happening and hope that you may be able to explain what the problem is.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated...

Many thanks,

Darren

Are you sure it's not the card?

I am guessing either you have a faulty CF / SD card or sensor is acting up.

Did you have data on more than 1 card? If so, is the same thing happening to the images on that card?

Have you tried a different software program just to be sure?

If it happens on multiple cards and more than one SW package, sounds like a camera issue.

Sorry to hear this.

Mark

Are the images like this on the camera screen or just on the PC?

Many thanks for the replies and advice guys.

I was using a new Sandisk 8gb high speed (60x) card on which this problem occurred. I have always used Sandisk 2gb cards and had very few issues with them and do like them. I never thought about the card and will re-format it and try again. I will also try using a selection of other 2gb cards to see if the problem is still there...Hope it is a simple card issue and not my baby

Many thanks again and will update the thread when I have tested the card options...

Darren

That would be expected. I believe that the image shown on the camera is normally a "thumbnail" image, not the full-sized image.

How do you transfer the files to the computer - by connecting the camera to the computer or by using a card reader?

This looks like what happens when the data didn't get on the card fully. If you were shooting continuous and the buffer didn't catch it, this is what can happen. Download all the images onto a drive and then reformat the card in your camera. Take a few fast shots and see if it happens again.

I would NOT format the card, but try a different card reader ns/or USB cable. Similar thing happened to me on my laptop.

If the card reader is at fault things like this could happen. But if it's the files itself you're pretty toast. If they look ok in the camera, and you shot raw, it could be possible to salvage the embedded jpg files in the raw files.

Update on the issue above...

I was out at the weekend at the motoX and rattled of a stack of images and low & behold....Non of the repeat issues...;)

I took the valuable advice to format the cards and try again...Well, it worked. Something so simple and something I do fairly regular but...Obvs not enough...In future, after I have moved images to the PC, the card will be formatted straight away in the camera...

Many thanks for the replies and advice, much appreciated and happy snapping to one and all...

Northern Ferret...

That's awesome. I was sure something really spooky bad had happened inside your camera. Congrats!

I'd be tempted to completely fill the card and confirm it handles it a couple of times before pronouncing it okay, funny things happen...
