I really like the first one Dan. I'm wanting to see a reverse angle of the second shot.
Your images are always interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Interestingly enough...I have a reverse of the second image...but might not be the reverse you want.

It's my favorite as well. The curvy tracks really adds to it.

Jeff....you can't walk any further out in the yard than where I was. A portion of this is still a working freight yard, so access is restricted.

Wool.....I love the steamtown shots.

I got all sentimental when I saw the D&LW hopper. When Lois' grandmother lived in Scranton, the Lackawann mainline went right past her house. The grade there was sufficient slow the trains to a crawl. It was quite a show. She lived about a half mile from the Nay Aug tunnel. You would hear the engines running at full throttle when they emerged from the tunnel. There was plenty of time to go outside, and walk the short distance across the street, and wait for the train to come by. At that point, it might be going 5-10 mph, and the Alcos were putting out massive clouds of black smoke. It was a real show.

Of course they were running cabooses in those days. Really fun. (wish I'd owned a camera then).

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I used to beg my grandfather to take me to Scranton to watch the trains....The line from Binghamton to Corning was virtually flat...so Scranton was the closest place to go to see some elevation changes and locomotives working hard.
