Is there a benefit to stopping down with strobes? Just curious because I really like these shots. Great work. 1Dmk3, 7D, 70-200 f/2.8, 50-500 f/4-6.3, 28 f/1.8, 50 f/1.8, 85 f/1.8, 430 EX II

Jan 20, 2010 08:22 | #19 I'm curious how the use of flash at that distance affects the ability to take shots like this? I wanted to give indoor basketball a try to help out some high school students with some yearbook photos and, at this point, I don't even know if I can use a flash anyway. I am very new to action photography since most of my experience comes from shooting evidence photos. Can you take a minute to explain some hints and tips for the very inexperienced and very impressed new guy?

I'm assuming that's with the overhead lighting and some PW's. That's gotta be so much nicer than being stuck at f/2.8 and an ISO at 1600+ My Gear | My Alamy

It must be a pretty bright rink but I was still curious if the flash, which shows fired, was also a factor?
