Here is the same shot number 1 is the original jpeg with no type of Photoshop chnages other than resizing. number 2 is the reult of whitbalnace changes and levels and saturation from the raw file.

My question is: Is there a way I can get the same results in #2 without all the ps work.

Also what is the general consensus about changing an original shot so much in photoshop.

In respone to question #1. If what you saw with your naked eye looked like the #2 picture, then you should be able to capture that with your camera assuming proper camera settings.

Question #2. I personally think that you do what you have to, to produce the best picture possible. If that requires heavy PS'ing then so be it. Capturing the image and then making it as good as it can be are both part of the process that make a good picture. They go hand in hand.
