A lucky stumble on Flickr got me to a gallery of a guy that does a lot of high speed photography. Pellets smashing into fruit, Christmas bulbs full of jello, even a pellet striking a pin!!!. Anyway I have started my search for high speed strobes. I have seen work with speedlights, but they are simply not fast enough. The strobe used by the guy I found costs $5000! Way to much just to "play around" with.

I have never ventured into high speed photography, and wondering if anybody has links to strobes that have a nice short duration. My best lead so far is actually a strobe for nightclubs! It can be triggered like a normal strobe.

Any other leads would be great!

Yes I saw that. Thanks! A disposeable flash is not any faster than a speedlight. I will probably still get the triggering unit as it is the cheapest one I have found. And I have no plans on building my own.
