It was much too big and didn't consider loading up the wetsuit and board but brought my trusty 20D w/a 200mm 2.8 prime. I had a hard time shooting because of the time of day (late afternoon) and there was so much spray from the large waves.

If I could do it over again I would borrow my friends 100-400mm and shoot in the morning.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Tough conditions to shoot in, but I kind of like the first two - the transparancy of the waves, the spray, just has a good feel to them (and it's always great to see Blacks on a good day). Welcome to the forum, neighbor!

I think the first one is a cool shot! The guy looks so relaxed and he's about to get shacked!! I wanted to go out and look at Seaside and Swami's but it was like a hurricane when I finally got off of work!! Excellent job in tough conditions!! My late afternoon surfing shots suck compared to yours!

2nd shot is pretty rad. I'd like to see what the waves look like this week. The weather's pretty gnarly here in So Cal right now.
