Hello,
I've been testing this setup: a DIY softbox, a simple lamp from back/above and some material for the background. I used the gear in my sig.
These are self portraits so I'm really only interested in critique regarding my lighting setup but any comments are appreciated :)

Lighting looks great to me. The only suggestion I'd make is that the hair could be better separated from the background as it tends to blend a bit. There again, it's early and I badly need caffeine, so maybe it's my blurry eyes. :) Nice shots.

It is late and I should not have anything more: caffeine or anything else... :)
But I agree with Jim. The light looks right but... may be a bit backlighting or a different colour in the backdrop.

Hey, thanks for the feedback! Yeah, you're probably right about the hair. I'll see what I can do. What about the shadow under my chin a bit to the left. Is that ok or should i try to add more fill light or perhaps even another light to remove it?

Maybe a reflector for the shadow on the neck, but I don't have a big problem with it as is because the 'mask' is well enough lit. I suspect others will have though. :)

True, thanks for pointing this out. Anyway, had a shoot tonight with someone posing for me. I'll post pics later in the People section :)
