I was originally looking to pick up a 24L as my next purchase, but I now have an opportunity on a used 14L II for a good price.

The reason for both is that I am slowly coverting to primes and I have not really been satisfied with the IQ from my 16-35. I shoot FF and my thinking is I would be happier with the 14 over the 24 for a wider perspective. I would appreciate feedback from those that have experiance with the 14L. Thanks in advance

I had a 14L for a couple of weeks and it is a sweet lens just a bit wide for most of what I shoot. I love my 24L on FF.

I don't have either but the 14mm is super super wide. I would probably take the 24.

Didn't you say you'd be happier with the 14 than the 24 already? How about the NIkon 14-24 with an adapter?

There is a BIG difference between 14 and 24, so only you can decide which FL will suite your needs better.

Personal, id go with the 24, simply because i REALLY want that lens and 14 would be way to wide for me

I really want it too! lol

I guess I am looking at the 14 to provide the wide FOV I get from the 16-35.

Ultimately I will likely get both to satisfy this L addiction ;)

The 14mm 2.8 us a nice lens, But it's way too expensive for a 2.8. At least with the 24mm you get 1.4.

No experience with either so can't help you there.
Knowing that you eventually want both it would make sense to grab that 14L now.
The 24l is still fairly new so it can only come down in price over time too.
The only other thing that would concern -me- is talk of a 14-24 2.8 zoom by Canon....but that's still just a rumour.
Go the 14!

For the price of the 14L II you can buy a Nikon 14-24 f/2.8 and an adapter, and have 14-24mm with tack-sharp quality.

The 14 on my FF is SUPER WIDE but I also have the 24(from 24-70) which I find to be a perfect wide angle.
It really depends on what you plan on shooting more of; I find the 14 being my go-to landscape lens but the 24L has that f/1.4 which I'm sure is awesome as well. Good luck, tough decision.

I don't know anything about 14mm but the 24L1.4II has reached something like a perfection on a fullframe concerning :
Sharpness, CA, Distorsion, Aperture/Bokey, AF ..... it's only weakpoint is price ..
I can't imagine any other lens on the market that can manage to be such high level from wide open and homogeneous ...

Get the 24, esp considering that you're on a FF. That lens is as close to perfection as is possible.

24mm is such a classic FL for wide angle. Its pretty wide on FF (it would have been classed as UWA 20 years ago ;) ).

If you can only afford either the 14 or the 24 then get the 24.

To have just the 14L for the forseable future would be a handicap in terms of versatility.

Also- I cant see the prices of 24L MkII's coming down.

If you do decide on the 24 length, the new 24 T/S shodul be considered. OOps, you do not enjoy MF.
