Hey All,
I just received my 580EX II and upon inspecting the flash, when I turn it on it makes a weird noise (like something is retracting/zooming noise). Is this normal? Btw my 580EX Version 1 never made any sound at start up. Much Thanks.

Move the flash head into the straight ahead position. Feel the position latch. Sometimes, the flash cannot work out whether it is in straight or bounce position, so hunts between the 70mm/50mm/14mm position. The wide panel should be retracted firmly, too.
