Can anyone recommend a down-loadable version of EXIF Image Viewer?

Many thanks.

Faststone Image Viewer all the way.

It shows all your photos (incl the latest RAW) in thumb nails (with a larger, size adjustable, thumb nail in the bottom left, or on another monitor if running dual).
Click on a thumb nail and its full screen. Click on this full screen image and it zooms to 100%. Move the mouse to the right side of the screen and a pop out shows the exif and histogram data. Move the mouse to the left and it shows editing tools.

Its very fast, and its free..

Irfan View has built-in EXIF viewer. It's free.
If you want something for web photos, try Firefox and some add-ons (such as FxIF)

Lots of good advice.

You might also want to have the very simple option of checking the EXIF of images within image rich web pages that you are viewing in your Browser (without having to open any application). Just right click on the image and select View Exif. That's not the same as using the browser to view a set of your own images. To get EXIF data for in-line images as described, I recommend Opanda iEXIF here (external link).
Exif for your own images is always going to be available in your image editing application.
