This is the second time I've shot High School bball. This time instead of using my t1i and a nifty fifty, I bought a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG MACRO. Way higher keep rate than the nifty fifty - the autofocus being faster helps quite a bit. Still figuring out technique - often if the focus is off I'm pretty sure its my fault.

Photos are facebook sized so that the kids can hotlink them, but still acceptable for viewing - a little smaller than potn sized but I'm lazy atm. Mix of ISO 1600 and 3200...both are acceptable from my t1i with some noise reduction.

1 & 2 look great for ambient light - but now my daughter will want that lens. Level off #2. Maybe mess around with using manual mode to keep your shutter speed as high as you can as the light looks pretty even. Please don't take it personally, but I would dump #3 it detracts from the others because the focus is off. Having fun is the best part - that's what keeps us all coming back. That and the thousands of dollars of course.

I don't take any crits personally - so thanks for giving me a response.

I know #3 is a bit soft but it was somewhat good that way - the team in the picture (the raiders) were losing by a fair margin and the game was near over. When I see it not shrunk down you can kind of feel a bit of the despair. I'm thinking of converting it to b+w and giving it some grittiness.

There are lots more from this shoot linked in the 2nd post.
