These were taken on the Applecross Peninsula, West Highlands.
We fell in love with the area, and relieved that its only a 4 hour drive :D

The first was 1/160sec f14 35mm
The second was 1/250sec f6.3 38mm.

Both shots were with 24-70L
C & C welcomed

Trevor,
Both are great shots - the stormy sky is just fantastic - I can almost hear and feel that rain!

Did you set the white balance for the second shot or was it auto?

The reason I ask is that it looks to be slightly lacking in contrast. I had a look at the levels and found them to be short on the white and black points - just by using the dropper tool and clicking on a white and black area I seemed to get a better contrast within the image. Could be my monitor and colour set up...if you want I can post it.

Regards

Hi David,
I set the WB to daylight. However I was concentrating on the sky so didn't check the levels again. I'd be very grateful for your input:D

Thanks for the kind words :)

Nice shots again. :)

I was gonna say it's just slightly malnourished, the 2nd shot. But with the levels adjusted it fixes it. :)

My old 400mm lens, always loses so much definition. It often only exposes in the middle 3 sections of a level graph, out of 5. :(

Keep the nice shots coming.

Damn, I'm drooling here.
Forgive the profanity, Trevor, but you may remember I gave up on a trip to Applecross to pay for my 1D MK II.
I don't regret it but why can't I have eveything.:!: ?

Both great shots for different reasons.
As David said the sky in the first shot is impressive. There again the sky in the second is none too shabby. Davids levels adjustment has improved it but the comp is bang on for me, 2/3 sky 1/3 mountains and loch.

I'll have another guess. The second shot is looking across Loch Shieldaig then Upper Loch Torridon towards the Munro Mullach an Rathain, (Liathach).

Gold Star or Dunces Cap ?

Best regards,

Show off - GOLD STAR!!!!!

PS - Once the dark nights arrive again, you could always try selling your body. It might pay for a trip to Applecross - eventually

Thanks for the comments, they're much appreciated :D
