Running of the Olympic Torch

Anybody have any tips from previous or similar experience for shooting the running of the torch... at night? I'm assisting one a friend of mine and figured the least I could do was research it a little.

When it came through here, it was well attended. The agents in the gray suits on the bikes keep everyone well back. I think that's because we were all over one lane of the road, so it's a traffic deal, but also a security precaution. ( about a week later there was an incident where one torch bearer was tackled by a protester....the government spending $$ on the Games and not on whatever his cause was)

They have likely tightened security a bit since then. It does take about 20 seconds to light from the previous runner, so you get a good chance to get that shot, Make sure your friend knows exactly where you are so he/she can turn to you for the full-on shot once it's lit.

It was just before dusk for me, so I only used fill-flash. Good luck, post some shots when you're done.
