Just wondering....Do you print your photos? Do you print them big? I enjoy printing my favorites and hanging them on my walls but I know many people that rarely (if ever) actually print what they capture.
So where do you stand? Do your best photos actually make it to a wall or do you just enjoy them on the computer screen?

Yep, I print a few 4x6s every once in awhile and some other random stuff. I do 12x18s, but I've never gone larger than that personally. Though I've sold some photos to folks that had them printed larger (corporate customers that wanted to control the printing process).

I print for our photo album every month. I process every day that I shoot and save them all for one big order. There are usually some 8x10 shots thrown in.

I don't understand people that don't. Kids... :D

Absolutely - that's part of the whole gratification process :D. The keepers are printed on 13x19 paper and inserted in a display/presentation book, and those that I feel are really noteworthy are matted and framed:

Jason, I print 4x6 samples at home. But anything else I do gets sent to my lab service for printing. They can do it much cheaper than I can do the same size prints.

I'm lazy, I just save them on my computer. I know I REALLY should get more printed, I'd enjoy them more then looking at the screen.

I need to get ink for my Epson RX595, I just hate the fact that ink costs more then I paid for the printer.

Try this company: www.atlex.com (external link)

That's where I get ink and paper for my old R1800. The discount is fairly sizable but shipping will be $7-9.00 on average. Because of that I'll buy paper and several cartridges at a time to spread out the cost.

I print books!!!!! They're 11"x8.5", hard cover with nice glossy pages and a paper jacket. I make them in iPhoto and Aperture. With Aperture, you can actually wrap an image around the jacket, front to back. I've lost count of the books I've printed over the last two years, but it's probably a dozen. In the last book, many of the images were full page photos.

My wife has a few photo tote bags that she carries around (not all at once). The hold 4-5 5x7s and we print them at home. She changes them out for new shots every few weeks or so. We'll print 4x6s for some small frames, but will send to the lab anything larger.

By the end of March I will have printed my 156th print of the year.
about 3/4 of those are 13x19" +

I feel that printing less than 13x19 - cannot see my prints at their greatest splendor. Technicals aside, I have no idea why but I see the compression a lot more in something like an 8x10 rather than a 13x19 or higher.

I also think that by printing you truly complete the process of photography - if you just do digital on the computer, you're missing out on an entire stage. Sort of like people who don't post process their images at all. Just leave them at RAWs. There's a phase there that's untouched.

When you print, or so I believe, you watch your work become more than an image...it becomes what it was meant to be...a photograph. Otherwise it's just a photo (light on a screen)

I am planning to print a ton of photos once I have the moolah to get a printer.

I'm kinda ashamed that I can spend alot of money on photo gear and yet I haven't purchased a printer. lol

I do between 5 and 7 12x18s per month.

3 or 4 are for Photo Club meetings (Our Stuff on PBase (external link)) and I usually do 1 or 2 others for fun or gifts.

Canon 9000 and Ilford Smooth Pearl FTW! :D

I get prints done whenever I have photos that either I am happy with or the wife likes.
Most of them so far have been 6x8 and a couple of 8x10s, but I got a 10x16 yesterday and I really love how it has come out so I think I will stick with around that size from now on (Now to find a shop with frames to suit)

Sort of off topic but what is everyone's preferred print type/brand?
I have had prints from a few places on different papers and have found that I really like prints from Fujifilm on matte paper.

I never print smaller than A3 (11.6x16.5) and they go into a display portfolio. I would print A3+ if I could find a portfolio that size. 20x30s for the walls go to a lab about a half hour's drive from here.
