Ring flash?

Which is the better and/or most cost effective route to go for someone just getting into Macro photography?

Thought about going with the Delta but I keep reading that it fails after several uses. Would like to keep costs to no more than $75 range if possible.

Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

I had the ring flash and always disliked it, seldom used it. I sold it last summer, got a bracket and flash gun + diffuser and I love it.

So one vote for bracket as far as I am concerned. You also get a flash that you can use in regular situations as well.

flash ring if you're taking dental pics. Else, flash bracket.

Agree with above unless you want to invest in an MT-24 which is very expensive.
I still use a bracket mounted flash.
The Hakuba LH-1 ballhead bracket (Ebay) is reasonable but you still may need to replace the ballhead with a larger generic one.
Good DIY version here https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=813717

I purchased one of those ,mine was a steady burn not a flash and found it rather cumbersome to change the mounting ring when using a differnent diameter lens. The on camera life was only 45 minutes, however it could also be used with AC voltage by plugging into a household receptacle and could be used on the 6" tripod that came with it for aux lighting in a light box.Just a couple of pros and cons,,,,,,knowing this tho beforehand, I would not have purchased it.
