It does look like a painting. I get the impression that moving water will show up blurred how did you keep the waves so crisp?

Yep your right there was ghosting in the water. How i fixed it was to overlay one of the images over top of the HDR and mask out the water. the ghosting wasn't that bad as the shutter speeds were high because of the sun.

Great shot!
I'm never sure if the complement "this looks like a painting" is flattering or not. My take is a sharp photo has more detail and no brush strokes. I'd be flattered if I where a painter and someone said one of my paintings looks like a photo.

I see what you mean but it was certainly meant as a compliment.:) I think the HDR just provides that much more range just as a painting would not underexpose things.
And I suspect the painter would take that comment with the same hesitation that you've just evinced. (If I'd wanted a photo I'd have taken one!)
