Watermark on prints

Do you put you mark on any of the photos you print, be it for your own personal use or if you are giving/selling them to someone?

depends on the print.

i gave my father in law a picture i took this past july. it was taken from the Intrepid during the Macys 4th of July events. it was the flight deck with some type of plane (he knew) with fireworks going off behind it. he was a Navy officer so he had ties to it. i watermarked it (small) so if any of his Navy buddies or even friends ever see it they say "your son in law took that???"

i gave my inlaws pictures of their grandkids all blown up and framed. no watermark.

so it depends.

Like CosmoKid, it depends on the end use of the print and what the customer is using the print for. For anything that is going to be hanging and is 16X20 and larger I do put my name in them but I usually do a hand signing on gold foil. All my proofs given to customers are clearly watermarked and all final deliveries will have either a watermark or a label placed on the back of the print. No clear cut rule for me as you can see
