I have three Opteka Lp-E5 and they seem to work about as well as my stock Canon. Although they "claim" to be 1800mAh batteries, their performace is very similar to the stock Canon which is 1080mAh. Some will have different logos or even different mah ratings but I find they all have the same like compared to the canon lp-e5. Even with the 2000mah ones provide maybe 30 shots more instead of several hundred more like they should. I have 3 different brands and only one fits in the battery well. The other two require too much force and I'm afraid they'll get stuck so I use them in the battery grip, which is aftermarket too but exactly like the Canon BG-E5. The only time the cheapos ever failed me was when I was shooting below 0 degrees Farenheit. They wouldn't even power on. With the Canon I got 30 shots and it showed power went down to half. So in extreme conditions they might fail but otherwise for the price they are great. 1080, 1800 or 2000 mah, they really are all the same (ie. 1080) so just go for the cheapest. Also look for a local seller as it's only $1-2 more but you get it withing a week instead of a month.

I figure even if they don't last as long, for that price I can afford to replace them. charge seems to last as long as the canon one, from what I can tell, although I haven't tested them with actually counting. canon 1dmk2* Canon XSi * Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 EX DG * Canon 17-40mm f/4L * Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 EX * Canon 50mm f/1.8 *

Lyndön Goldmember More info | Jan 22, 2010 00:04 | #9 I'd be wary of those ultra cheap batteries. You can afford to replace the batteries, for sure... but can you afford to replace your camera if they damage it? That's the better question. I'm not opposed to good quality third-party batteries though. I've got some sterlingteks for my G11 and 40D that are great.
