... it seems to me, the loops are fine but a possible failure point would be the plastic hangers. Whadyathink?

I'm talking about these:

Why may I ask are you looking at these ones and not the tried and true ones that most everyone here uses? Im talking about the ones on the POTN Op/Tech strap.

I've got some, haven't experienced any problems whatsoever, even with 5D, 150mm, RRS flash bracket, extension arms, a 550ex, and 430 EX hanging off of it.

I'd be more concerned about the stitching . . . I've had similar plastic loops on other straps and the thread is what gave.

Oh, this is what I'm looking for too, so any response is very helpful from those who've used this.

I mainly want to strap these to my camera and have mini carabiners on my strap. It allows me to remove the straps easily when I mount my camera to a tripod. Right now I'm using just plain old mini keychain rings. The only issue with the keychain ring is that it's thin. One time my carabiner somehow unhooked itself during transportation and I almost dropped my camera.

It sounds like you already have a necck strap system in place and this is just for the cacmera connection?

I would highly recommend going the route of the Pro strap, or POTN strap. They use the same clips so you can buy three sets and all are switchable between cameras. Also they easily remove from the camera with the plastic clip.

There is a possiblity that the stiches can fail but that can happen with anything else. Mountain climbers use high strength ropes and carbiners, but they check their gear before each climb to make sure it's working 100%.

If you'll do some looking you'll find the "loop" type connection that already has a quick disconnect on it that fits Optech straps. That's what I use them for. I also have the straps that hook onto backpack straps which I can connect the camera loop connectors to. It's a really nice system for taking the strap off for tripod use, hanging camera from backpack shoulder straps, etc. without having to take a lot of time removing and/or changing connectors.

Take a look at these:

What I use on my backpack shoulder straps

Hope this helps!
