This GBH was in a tough spot to photo but I was able to get into a spot that allowed for a few decent shots (or so I think).

Comments and criticism much appreciated

I got rid of the branches crossing over his neck in the first two.
More can be done. Just takes alot of time.

Nice set of shots, but the chopping of the legs in #1 spoils that shot, at least get down to where they enter the water.

I never even get half as near as you got...
when they see me coming they are always gone.
I prefer #1 of your second posting.. it's a good composition with the right sharpness..

I agree...when I was shooting I took a few shots like that on purpose to see how the composition would look and I agree with you that it spoils the shot

Thanks and for the record the 1st in the 2nd posting was edited by Vidcanon

as far as getting close...normally they are hard birds to get close to but at this location there is always a lot of activity and they don't spook nearly as much as they normally do...if my memory serves me I think that pic 2 in post one was shot at 235mm.
