-Apple Macbook Pro running latest version of Leopard
-Canon XS/1000d
-Photoshop CS3

My problem is, that if I connect the USB cable provided with my camera to my mac, and transfer my files to my desktop, when I double-click the RAW files, photoshop does not recognize them, therefore will not open. If I pull the SD card out of the camera and put it directly into the computer and move the files to my desktop, open them, photoshop has no problem with it. I also used my card reader for USB and that also works perfectly fine.

I'm wondering where I'm going wrong, and what I need to do to get my camera to be recognized by my computer automatically by using the USB cable provided with my camera.

Keep in mind, I have all adobe updates up to date. I extensively searched the internet for answers but none of them are specific to the USB cable not working.

Thanks in advance!

Update USB drivers + try different cables. Try it on a different PC.

Try installing the EOS utlities as it may help the computer recognize the camera.

I did that, but to no avail.

How can I update the USB driver?

Anyone?

I updated EOS Utility, the Firmware for the camera, and also ran a system update for the mac and still nothing.

Shouldn't the SD card show up in the desktop when the camera is turned to ON and plugged into the computer?

I don't have an answer for you and I know how frustrating it can be when things don't work. That being said, this is why whenever these type of camera connect questions arise that the overwhelming response is always to just use a card reader.

What version of camera raw do you have? I know you said you updated all your software but might want to try update camera raw separately. You can download it here:

You need to download the newest version of Adobe Camera Raw.
