Make sure you really market the item and yourself well in the listing. Moreover, I obsess over the buyer experience, so that I can get particularly good feedback comments. Many potential buyers go straight into the seller's profile and click on the 'Feedback as Seller' tab, so make sure the comments left for you show that you're an extraordinary seller. Most of mine start with "An absolute pleasure.. ", which really aids in buyer confidence.

I treat feedback comments as an investment. A very positive comment for just one sale means higher prices for ALL your listings down the track! :)

:) I shall refer to this post next time I go to list an item or leave feedback. Thanks Col!

OOo sorry about that, I totally missed reading your post.
Well, more or less what was stated in the ad ;) PM me if you got anything further.

All good! I've been looking for all of a day so far and have no idea what I should be looking for... other than my crappy $30 one I've only ever used a rented Manfrotto (which apparently would retail for more than $1k with the head) and I need to do some more homework I think!

Dan, you definitely wanna do some good research before investing in a tripod. In particular, isolate a pair of legs that suit you and similarly for the head. Whatever you get, don't be afraid of spending a decent amount for a good set of sturdy legs and a reliable head. Many tripod newbies go the cheapo route and then regret it later.

Would you say I would have an issue selling the 70-200/4 on ebay if there isn't even a second hand or completed listing in sight (recently anyways)? :(

Tripods are just one of those tools that stay in your arsenal for a long long time I reckon.

No, that's actually a good thing, as there's less competition. If there are hordes of other 70-200/4's there, buyers often adopt the attitude of 'Ah well, if I don't win this one, there's always the other 2-3 I'm watching'. Often, this manifests into something even worse: "Since I've got so many choices, there's bound to be one of them which will go for a real bargain", and this can lower the Max Bid price of some buyers.

When you're the only one around, buyers become more determined to win, and hence the chance of a higher ending price.

I'll try find something decent to list just to try it out

I've got no idea on any support equipment or what have you so if I ever feel the need to buy a tripod, I'm going to be doing some SERIOUS research and asking a lot of questions!

I sold the 24/2.8 with none around at all and that's not even a highly regarded lens. You'll be fine :)

Expect around 2-4 weeks at Canon North Ryde. Christmas - Feb is their busiest period. If you're outta' warranty, it won't be that cheap either..

I was expecting maybe 2 weeks, but 4.. urgh. Woo... it might be out of warranty. Don't know if I got an extended one.. (will need to look through my camera boxes).

Time to upgrade? ;)

Well, that would be the easy option!

Having said that, I've no real reason for one other than it might inspire me to use it and therefore take more photos and try new things, which would be nice.
