Nice tax lately Scott :)
Been awhile since I've attended a city event. Sydney is pretty stacked so far this year, damn road closures.

I got caught up in the opening night for the Sydney Festival last month - damn that was a lot of people!!!

Hi all..bit of weekend tax.

Fairhaven Carnival...Open Women's Rugby...er..Beach Flags.

I normally shoot these with the 28-70 and get in between the officials, but I only had the 70-200, so I was lucky they by and large kept out of the way.

Nice fringe work Scotty!

Andrew, I hope the judges fouled the white and green capper out of that race! Great action captures at that narrow depth of field.

Just back from Acca Dacca, we were seated one row from the front!!!, on level four just above the corporate boxes, so high enough for a great view without nose bleeding. had the most boring people around us, only my Jo was up and dancing, spoilt sports! Loved their classics, but their new stuff merges into the old stuff worst than Oasis songs do, well almost. A good concert, seen better, I think it would have been totally different down on the floor! Oh and 35 degrees with no wind meant too much exposure from Angus lol.

Gotta love all the P&S shooters flashing away, almost as much as the other flashers!

Ed - ooh it arrived! Sweet! But cmon kids as your first shoot with it? :p

Damo - nice work ...we'll see you on bondi rescue next

Austen - 2 dlite4's are a heap cheaper than the rangers or ranger q. Nice, light and compact for a monolight also... also opens you up to a sensational family of modifiers. If you want to cart them to location simply add an innovatronix battery thing. Also having a proper modelling light on them is great for studio use.

JustAl - hurry up and join the ranger q family... oh and you could have got the same power level as Ed in those shots with the quadra on full (Ed - your flickr says power @ 6.0 which is 400ws if I'm not mistaken ; )

Hi Rai...I had noticed the price difference between the DLites and the Rangers !!

Also, I'd priced in the Innovatronix inverter too...........

I guess my (three) main concerns stopping me whipping out my CC today are.....

1) At 400 W/s for the DLite4 / Quadra, this seems WAY under-powered compared to the Rangers @ 2400 w/s ??
Will I regret not having the "power" of the Rangers (which are probably out of my budget, at least for six months or so). If I did save the $$'s, would I really get the value out of them ? But if I did have them, then that may "force" me to shoot more to get the value !!!

2) OTOH, The Alien Bees (B1600) @ 640w/s seem to have a fair bit more "grunt", but with all the bad reports of the Vagabond I'd go the Innovatronix for those too...Or do I wait for the Einsteins ?

3) Or would this clicky (external link) be a bad idea (EBay special, 2 heads / 1 @ 600w/s or 2 @ 300 w/s) be a bad plan ?

Finally, with all of these "non-speedlight" solutions how do things go for beach-shots and the 240V power ?

Ohh....Someone just tell me what to do !!!

Austen.
