Speaking of time, I've got 45 minutes before Kayell closes, but I'm not visiting them.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

It's like being in an HTML history lesson, visiting that site.

 The first thing I noticed was last updated, for some reason it reads 2009 and not 2001

Yeah, I don't get it either and IIRC it was listed as portraiture? The second one in the slideshow held my attention for the longest.

That second one is alright. I wonder if they were all taken with Sony cameras? :p

Going tomorrow with Al as long as it doesn't conflict with a couple of shoots I've got booked ;-)a

Partly the "one pack per head' thing, which has been something I've been thinking since the consideration started......

??

Isn't the "Battery box" Part Number... Ranger Quadra AS (10261.1)

This is the same part number used in the two-head set.....

Ranger Quadra AS TO GO SET S Head (10290) Content : $2495
1x Ranger Quadra AS (10261.1)
2x Ranger Quadra S Head (20107)
2x RQ Flashhead Cable 2.5 m (11001)
2x RQ Reflector 13.5 cm (26145)
1x EL-Skyport Transmitter (19351)
1x Extra RQ Battery (19294)
1x Ranger Quadra Case (33214)

and also in the single-head set.....

Ranger Quadra AS STD S Head Set (10292) Contents :$1795
1x Ranger Quadra AS (10261.1)
1x Ranger Quadra S Head (20107)
1x RQ Flashhead Cable 2.5 m (11001)
1x RQ Reflector 13.5 cm (26145)

So if you brought the single-head set now you could buy an additional head at a later stage ??

Mind you, a valid criticism might be that the leads are only 2.5m long (extensions are available though) and that you need an adapter ($99.00) to use "regular" Elinchrom modifiers.

Of course, the extra $700 does get you a case, the second head, the transmitter and a second battery ............

Or the Einstein for $650 + $400 for the Innovatronix = $1050

Or the DLite4 kit (2 heads) $1100 +
Innovatronix = $1500Or the EBay special (2 heads, = 2 * 300Ws or 1* 600Ws) = $780

Am I helping ;) ??

Austen.

Austen you're doing my head in, j/k :)
I would much prefer to have a single power pack per head but the way that the kits are structured it is not really economical to buy that way. Maybe just get one of each? but then you only have 1 spare battery...
I didnt quite understand the assymetrical power output problem when powering two heads from one pack, can anyone elaborate?

Wow, Al, thats a lovely shot. Conversion looks gear, and the DoF is awesome. well done.

On another note, I've just been told I'm shortlisted for a sports photography job at Kangaroo Photos haha. Got an interview in 3 weeks. Any tips?

Since the topic refers to Einstein - any physics people here? I was reading an article in NewScientist and it got me thinking. E=mc^2 Suppose that c isn't the limit but that E is. This wouldn't change the speed of light, but would allow lighter objects to travel faster. Could this allow for such things as quantum entanglement, without breaking Relativity?

My thinking is thus. At the moment of the big bang the most energetic level any particle would be capable of would be E. E=mc^2, so the speed of light would be governed by c= (Em)^-2. Thus, quarks, bosons. et al, being lighter, would be capable of super c velocities. Would, could, this explain "spooky interaction at a distance"? Allowing for entropy, could this conflict with the current belief that the universe is expanding faster than we postulated? After all, the speed of the galaxies we see expanding is measured based on an earlier, faster c. Perhaps this may explain why we can't find all that dark matter.

^i believe no person really knows how the universe was created, i believe in the in the big bang theory as it appears to be favorable today. It's unlikely that we will be able to make any big breakthroughs on a photography forum that many years of many extremely smart physicist have not been able to. If you do though Chris i hope you dont mind if i tell people "i knew that Chris guys who won that Nobel prize!"

I agree with you, there are plenty of options, I really don't know which way to jump

As I understand the asymmetric power.......

The Quadra AS generator is rated at (a TOTAL) of 400 Ws and has TWO outputs.

Also, the power distribution BETWEEN the outlets is FIXED at 2 : 1 and can be configured the following ways .....

One head = 400 Ws + 0 Ws
Two heads = FIXED 2 : 1 Ratio = 266 Ws + 134 Ws
One head = 134 Ws

You would use the 134 Ws output with a high-speed head to give you an incredibly fast flash.

I think !!!

Austen.
