An interesting post from Chase Jarvis.

Well, interesting for me, because I was thinking pretty much the same thing after the mag shoot the other day - I didn't do anything remotely special (well, I had the AF on from the start, which is better than last time...) but the client was happy, the talent was happy, I was happy.

But - nothing approaching special.

Very true. The water is murky, there's a group of perverts walking by every 15 minutes, the talcumn powder bottle/smoke machine is running out of juice. ;)

Tax from last night.

So I am pretty sure i want a pelican 1510, actually the 1514 which is a 1510 with padded dividers. I can't find many people selling it locally and the ones that are have very high price. So it looks like ill be doing a b&h order soon unless anyone can link me to a reasonably priced local stockist??

Just be aware that if you're contemplating using this as a carry-on bag, I'd strongly advise against it.

It is with 1cm of the maximum allowable size, which, on a bad day could well cause you grief with your boarding flight attendant. I would recommend you print both the dimensions of the case from Pelicans website, AND the airline baggage limits, and laminate these two together back-to-back.

However, the weight of the EMPTY 1510 / 1514 is 5.44Kg, from a max allowance of 7.0Kg.

This only allows 1.56Kg for either the foam (1510) or dividers (1514) and all your kit.

Many boarding gates *DO* have scales, and FREQUENTLY the CSM (head flight-attendant) will tell the boarding flight-attendant to ensure cabin bag limits are enforced !

When this happens, you bag will be taken from you, have a "Late" tag attached and slipped through the secret door, down the helter-skelter, and hopefully, possibly, maybe, be seen by the ramp staff and loaded onto your flight. Or maybe not seen until later in the day ........

These cases are good enough that your gear will almost certainly be safe if sent as checked baggage ..............

Hi all,

I have a few shots from the "Northern Lights" in Adelaide CBD last night... the result from getting some of the beautiful historic buildings and projecting massive images onto the facades. The images changed every 5 mins on each of the buildings and some of them were awesome...

May I ask what you use for uni to carry books/laptop/camera or do you stuff it all into your mankini?

I'm led to believe that as small as Cols mankini is, there's still plenty of room left in it :p !!

Tas' taken me quite awhile to 'perfect' this setup, but I just use a normal backpack (say, a medium Targus laptop bag) with a modified Lowepro Nova 4 AW bag. By modified, I mean with the top flap and front pockets totally cut off, so that the Nova is literally a 'pocket' which then slides into my backpack. I then velcro down a pad right down the middle of the Nova, and this allows me to carry two bodies mounted with lenses. There's no friction between the two bodies at all, so no physical clashing of any sort - even while running. I then use the laptop compartment to carry my books and notes. Works extremely well - allows me to carry up to 6cm worth of notes/books and a twin 5D/mounted 16-35 & 70-200 setup in great comfort. That's the reason I actually wanted to sell those two other Lowepro bags awhile ago - I find this laptop bag/Nova combo to be absolutely mankini-astic.
