I've decided 22" is a very annoying size. PS puts your window at 33.33% which gives the image some distortion, going down to 25% is just too small and going up to 50% you lose part of it.

I think I need a 27" to solve the problem.

I don't have that issue with LR as it sizes it to suit whatever space you have. Still, more is always better and a 27" Ultrasharp would be my choice, given that it's half the price of a 30".

Yeh, you can size to whatever you want in PS too, it's just odd sizes give you slight distortion, hence why I go off 25, 50, 75 or 100. Just something I've noticed on my screen.

How the hell do you manage to PP on a 13" display?? I frequently wish my 22" desktop display was bigger.

I get it right SOOC :p

Seriously though, it can get a little tedious at times, but I mostly edit for web use so I resize my output from Aperture to less than 1440 x 1440 most of the time anyway, which isn't too bad to work with.

Ah well. I only ever work with full-res images, and export either full-res for Redbubble or lower res for other uses.

No idea, just found the video.

Can I get some thoughts on Laptops. I'm planning on getting a new one in the next couple of months. As stated, I really like the build of the Macs, but I really don't know if I'm up for paying almost 3k when you can get something with the same specs half the price.

Anyways, thoughts on what brands are worthwhile would be great.

I'm a HUGE fan of my Dell XPS Studio 16. It's optioned through the roof (RGB LED screen, SSD, 8GB Ram, etc) and so wasn't cheap, but it's great. I drag it around everywhere, using it for journalism and photography. It's about a year old, I guess, and has been brilliant.

Cha uses the (then) 6-month-old MBP it replaced, and while she doesn't hate it as much as I do, it's fair to assume that it will not be replaced with another kool-aid machine :-)

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Do you think she has some body image issues? She only has one near full body shot on there... quite strange.

She is an amputee in many of them too...

Yup.

It's funny though, on the one hand, I think that after 3 years with a 400D I've served my apprenticeship, I deserve an upgrade, dammit! On the other hand, I frequently doubt my worthiness. After all, my GF's work poos all over mine (and has sold prints,) and she uses a $350 P&S.

(Her stuff is here (external link)if anyone's interested.)

She's good.

As others have mentioned, all the main brands are much of a muchness and it comes down to personal preference about look and feel. Me, I wouldn't touch anything except a Mac, but I recognise not everyone feels that way and that's fine. Whatever works for you.

Also, personally, I wouldn't touch an Acer with a 10foot (or any other length) pole though.

They used to be one of the preferred suppliers where I work (Vic Gov). Every single one we had in our group had to go back at least once in its life for repair and this was mirrored across pretty much every other group I spoke with.

We don't get Acers anymore. 'nuff said

I've had three Toshiba laptops in a row and I've been happy with all of them. Two have been Satellite's (their consumer brand) and one has been a Satellite Pro (the higher range but not right up there, I don't think). At the moment, there's a few Satellite's going around cheap. Dick Smith usually have the cheaper ones, it's where I got mine. 4GB Ram, Dual Core 2.1GHz, 500GB HDD, 7 Home Premium, 14.1" 16:9 1366x768 display. Sounds great, right? Shared graphics is the only hiccup but for $850, I'm not complaining ;) And I guess some may prefer a tougher build, but that's obviously another line and price range and to be honest, the build has been just fine for me and that includes taking it to uni on the train in either a very well padded Lowepro Fastpack 250 or a shoulder bag made out of some material that's tough, but definitely not meant to be well padded!

At least you'll keep yourself occupied for the next few days, then after every shoot you can change it around again

Mic, I think this bloke from Melbourne might be able to use your assistance: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=867828. He's had some trouble with Canon service and he said he can't get into CPS Australia, but IIRC, you had a bit of knowledge about new/updated requirements?

Nah, I haven't changed the configuration of the Computrekker+ AW Roller (or whatever it's called) for ages.

Saw that about half an hour ago, yeah.

He'll just have to do what I'm doing and wait until they release the new CPS info on the website - it's what I've been told to do :-(

A mate got a Computrekker not long ago, not sure if it was the Plus model or a Roller, but he's loving it too!

Ah, I thought they'd told you because of the 1Ds Mark III purchase. That sucks :(

I've spoken to Joel before, I was going to buy a UD50/60 but obviously didn't end up getting one. Seemed a helpful guy though.
