I'm just going by what they said in court (so it must be true). They were HUNGRY, man.

Couldn't believe that they said that in court when I read it. 10 minute trip to the shops or 10 minute struggle to kill someone plus 20 years in jail? I'll take the shops, thanks.

Story doesn't give their circumstances... they got relatively short sentences so there must be mitigating factors.

Whilst not wanting to start a flame war with Mr Juice, I still view people who use the "overpriced hardware" line about Apple as people who would probably say "why would you want to buy a VW Golf for $35,000 when you can get a perfectly good Kia Rio for $13,000 drive-away - they're both the same size car!" then in 3 years when its time to sell and upgrade, complain about the resale value of their "equal quality" Kia pile of junk...

A few years ago I sold a 3-year old 12" Powerbook (new price $2499) for $1400 on eBay - which I had leased and claimed the entire 3 years of lease costs off my taxable income 100% - which meant after selling it for $1400 I actually made money, whilst never enduring a blue screen of death, virus attack or any other unpleasantness whatsoever.

Do that with your $799 Dell laptop... assuming it even makes it to 3 years.

About viruses...I haven't had an anti-virus or malware program installed on my current mac. Good times!

If you can't empty that much, open a gmail account quickly, you can get 10mb per email.

Dell laptops have no issue getting to 3 years without any failures. It's the week after the warranty expires you have to worry about.

Everyone I know has sold things on Ebay for way more than they are worth.
Mate of mine for 2yrs bought hand held UHF's from Dick Smith for $50 and started them at $70 on ebay, usually going for 100-110ea... majority of people on there have NO IDEA of the value of things! he now does it with Genuine Nissan parts doing same thing

That may be true...But that's not the point either. Try sell a 3 year old HP for over half the price anywhere.
